Never Alone – Part 1

For He will tell His angels to care for you and keep you in all your ways.  Psalm 91:11

My favorite part of the day is waking up to the Word of God and of course, a lot of coffee in my cup! The challenge for many of us Bible junkies that have been “hooked” for long time on our morning devotional time is the sheer number of promises in the Bible that can become too familiar. The temptation is to breeze past certain ones because we “know that one already,” because we are on the prowl  for something “new.” To avoid this tendency I have made it a habit to invite the Holy Spirit in to quicken to my heart the word Jesus has for me that day. Sometimes I will hear a reference, sometimes I just feel led to begin reading a passage and sometimes, I do confess, this mighty woman of faith and power will just play “bible roulette!” :) A scripture will just leap off the page and ignite my faith because His word is truly alive.

It happened just that way this week when I was turning a page in Genesis and these words popped off the page, “Then Jacob went on his way and God’s angels met him – Genesis 32:1 (AMP). Wow! How heaven encountered him just as he was “on his way!” Holy Spirit stirred my heart in that moment to remember how present the Lord’s help is daily in my life. To think that I can go “on my way” this morning and in the unseen invisible realm around me, The Father has positioned His angels to assist me.

How many times have we just repeated Psalm 91 in a panic over a challenge we are facing and really do not let these powerful words sink in? Just sit back and really meditate on what the Lord is saying to YOU!

Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels special charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways of obedience and service. They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name, has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.

What amazing promises! Notice all those words “because?” It really does move the heart of God when we trust Him and look to him every day for our source of help. It gives him pure pleasure. You are His gloriously perfect new creation in Jesus Christ and He wants you to grasp how great that love is and how tender and good His mercies are toward you every day of your life.

He does not want you EVER to be without His presence and so He assigns to you these heavenly helpers called angels that can minister to you and for you every day. No matter what adversity you may be facing today those angels are arranging divine connections, prompting important phone calls, arranging your provision, and lifting up their swords against any work of darkness that would try to harm you! He has promised to never leave you alone.

Now that is a great way to start your day and be on your way!
